Systems Administrator – High Performance Computing Executive Level 1 All Bureau capital city locations will be considered Position overview We are seeking a talented and motivated Linux systems administrator to join our team in High Performance Computing (HPC) Operations. While knowledge of Supercomputing technology may be an advantage, it is not a requirement. The successful candidate will be provided with on-the-job training and support relevant to the role. Applicants require a background in Information and Communications Technology and experience of working with the components typically associated with Enterprise ICT systems, such as Linux-based operating systems, server computers, storage, and networking. A background in Linux systems administration is a mandatory pre-requisite. The HPC Operations team is based at Head Office in the Melbourne CBD. Candidates based near other Bureau office locations in Australia will be considered for the role. This position will work Monday to Friday during business hours and will be required to provide on-call out of hours operational support to the HPC environment. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency. Role responsibilities The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Provide systems administration support for operations of Linux-based HPC systems. Diagnose, debug, and resolve issues within HPC systems and related assets. Work closely with a team of on-call Software and DevOps Engineers to provide Level 2 support for the Bureau's High-Performance Computing operating environment and workload schedulers. Work closely with DevOps and software engineers, scientific programmers, researchers, users, and operators to achieve project outcomes. Contribute to continual improvement endeavours related to internal infrastructure, tools, and methods. Comply with all Bureau work, health and safety policies and procedures, and take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of employees, contractors, and visitors who may be affected by your conduct.
