Teacher Aide (Language Model - Auslan) - Indooroopilly State High School Education (Organisation site)Metropolitan North Region - Early Childhood and State Schools Division Indooroopilly State High School invites applications from enthusiastic and highly-motivated Teacher Aide (Language Model - Auslan). Applicants should have a high proficiency in Auslan or use Auslan as their primary language. This is a permanent part-time position (60 hours per fortnight or 0.79FTE). About the Role: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Work alongside the Teacher of the Deaf to collate and analyse students' Auslan language samples. Assist Deaf/Hard of Hearing students' understanding of the curriculum through teacher-directed tutoring to ensure that the education program is understood (for example, checking for understanding, working on difficult vocabulary, and clarifying homework directions). Provide expert advice on Auslan linguistics activities used in the classroom, social settings, and tutorials. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Deaf Community and its culture. Ability to plan, meet deadlines, and prioritise workloads to be flexible in a changing work environment. Deliver high-level skills in modelling for students, teachers, and other school staff members learning Australian Sign Language (Auslan) to assist with the communicative needs of these students within the school environment.
