About the Role: This position is responsible for quality teaching and assessing of the Victorian Certificate of Education – Vocational Major (VCE VM) at Melbourne Polytechnic. As a Melbourne Polytechnic VCE VM Teacher, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering engaging, hands-on learning experiences that empower students to thrive in education, employment, and beyond. We’re looking for a dedicated educator who can create a supportive and dynamic learning environment and collaborate with colleagues to engage with innovative teaching strategies, such as Applied, Integrated, and Project-Based Learning frameworks. As a teacher at a Non-School Provider of VCE VM, you will enjoy working with the team to structure your teaching and classroom to best meet the students’ needs. You will reignite a love of learning by fostering personal growth and equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to improve their career opportunities and future success. Duties: Collaborate with program leaders and curriculum specialists to develop and deliver engaging VCE VM programs aligned with VCAA requirements. Design and maintain learning resources, assessments, and student programs that foster education and employment pathways. Establish a supportive learning environment, encouraging student responsibility and engagement. Manage student records, including attendance, progress, and assessment, ensuring compliance with institutional and contractual requirements. Facilitate work placements and vocational experiences, supporting students' career development. Participate in team teaching, mentoring, and professional collaboration to enhance learning outcomes. Provide pre-course guidance, student selection, enrolment, and induction support, as well as staff mentoring. Organize and support excursions, incursions, and group projects to enrich learning. Maintain stakeholder communication, offering expert advice on student learning and employer training needs. Uphold Child Safe Standards, integrating student well-being into daily teaching practices. Must hold current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration. A postgraduate secondary teaching qualification with recent experience in VCE VM or pre-vocational youth programs. Strong understanding of applied learning principles, learner-centred teaching, and effective teaching methodologies tailored for pre-vocational youth programs, including at-risk students. Ability to plan, schedule, and meet deadlines while working both independently and collaboratively. Proven capacity to liaise with the Program Coordinator on student and case management matters. Skilled in using diverse teaching and assessment strategies, with effective student management techniques that foster engagement and success. Capacity to initiate and implement change, responding proactively to evolving department needs and priorities. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with a professional and collaborative approach. Ability to develop partnerships and networks to enhance student engagement, career opportunities, and post-study pathways. Competent in digital learning tools, e-learning platforms, and reporting systems. Knowledge of and commitment to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Anti-Discrimination, Quality Assurance, and Continuous Improvement. Must be able to obtain a National Police Check. Desirable Qualification: TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent, including units on Assessment Tools (TAEASS502) and Adult Literacy & Numeracy (TAELLN411 or TAELLN401A).
