We work closely with major companies in the energy industry, ensuring a rapid and smooth transition to a sustainable future.Here's what you'll needWe’re looking for a Technical Lead – Power Systems Studies to join our Grid Advisory Team . This pivotal role sits at the intersection of technical expertise, project delivery, and strategic business development. You will be instrumental in shaping our approach to delivering power system studies projects, while also driving innovation.Drawing on Jacobs' rich expertise in delivering complex power projects through various models including EPCM, EPC, and Owner's Engineer, you will lead our efforts in ANZ and beyond. Our local team's strong pedigree in end-to-end power system design - encompassing generation, transmission, distribution, renewables, battery energy storage, and emerging hydrogen technologies - provides a solid foundation for your work. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of power generation, working at the forefront of industry developments and sustainable energy solutions.Based in the ANZ Region, you will collaborate with a team of highly experienced engineers and project managers, engaging with our local, interstate, and global operations. Your expertise will be crucial in driving technical excellence, mentoring the next generation of engineers, and expanding our business horizons in the power sector.This position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in Lead technical aspects of modelling, analysis and design of electrical power systems Provide expert technical advisory and engineering services for grid-connected and off-grid power generation systems. Deliver high-quality technical reports and documentation adhering to client and Jacobs guidelines. Foster client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives. Collaborate in cross-functional teams to provide technical due diligence support for transactions Collaborate in cross-functional teams to provide impactful strategic advice that considers the risk and reward for undertaking a variety of actions Collaborate on projects across Western Australia, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, and SE Asia. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team skill development You will ideally have Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with additional qualifications in power systems engineering highly regarded CPEng or actively working towards obtainment Minimum 15 years industry experience (consulting preferable) Experience working with distributed energy resources (especially wind, solar and BESS) in the National Electricity Grid Experience modelling &/or reviewing system planning outputs from PSS/E, Digsilent PowerFactory, PSCAD, etc &/or manipulating these packages using programming languages such as Python Familiarity with Australian and international safety and electrical rules, regulations and standards Strong understanding of power system studies including generator performance standard studies, transient stability, fault analysis, load flow, protection design and an ability to assess power quality issues Strong communication and leadership skills Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively Experience in proposal development and strategic pursuits Analytical mindset with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities Jacobs.
