EL 2 (S&T 7) - Technical Fellow – Material Assessment and Protection The Role The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is a historic and transformative endeavour for Australia. This role will oversee the technical program for material assessment and protection. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and management in developing and maintaining capability within Australia to analyse, assess, and protect the materials used in submarines. They will also support submarine maintenance and manufacture by generating relevant objective quality evidence to inform decision making. This will require initiation and management of collaborative partnerships and liaisons with Australian and international stakeholders. Your role will be to define and develop ASA’s materials, corrosion, and coatings capability for conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines. Additionally, you will be required to lead and enable ongoing programs in these fields within the Australian submarine enterprise. To excel in the role, you may be required to: About our Team The Technical Division of ASA is responsible for providing design control, independent technical advice, assurance, and authority that will support the development and future operation of the nuclear-powered submarine fleet. As a member of the Submarine Systems Branch, you will continue to grow your subject matter expertise, be accountable for exercising any assigned technical program delegations, and providing objective quality science and technology evidence.
