About the Role: Are you a skilled and resourceful professional with a passion for exhibitions and events? Join us as a Technical Officer (Exhibition & Activation) and showcase your expertise in preparing, installing, and archiving exhibitions while safeguarding artwork with precision and care. You’ll bring your hands-on experience with tools, painting, and construction of display structures, as well as your knowledge of digital display processes and media, to create exceptional exhibition and event experiences. From managing stock and guiding staff and students to implementing safe work procedures and optimising space management, you’ll be a key player in ensuring everything runs seamlessly. This is a part-time role with a commitment of 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE), offering the perfect balance between professional impact and personal flexibility. Your responsibilities will include: Oversee the inventory of exhibition, installation, and event supplies, ensuring proper stock levels by monitoring usage and placing orders for materials, consumables, and equipment as needed. Provide guidance to staff and students on selecting suitable materials and equipment for exhibitions and events. Supervise and provide technical instruction to students and staff involved in student-led exhibitions. Develop and maintain safe work procedures to ensure the safety of exhibition and activation operations. Install, test, maintain, and repair exhibition equipment to ensure optimal functionality. Provide technical support for offsite exhibitions, events, and activations. We are looking for: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of exhibition preparation, installation, and archiving, including adherence to artwork safeguarding processes. Previous experience in the use of relevant tools and processes in exhibition installation including artwork handling and hanging, painting, hand and power tools, and construction of exhibition display structures. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of digital display processes and media. Demonstrated understanding of occupational health and safety in installation and workshop environments. Demonstrated understanding of asset and/or space management systems and procedures. Role Requirements: As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
