Period of Appointment Appointment to the role is on a fixed term, part-time basis (three days per week) until 30 June 2027. Duties Operate the HyLogger infrared spectrometer on drill core with an emphasis on thorough cleaning of drill core to ensure collection of high quality spectra. Maintain operational condition of instrument through an appropriate cleaning regime and use of liquid nitrogen as required. Complete standard mineralogical interpretations using The Spectral Geologist software and contribute to developing improved interpretations. Archive raw data and store processed results on network drives and update workflow database and file systems. Maintain data on workflow scheduling and progress against work plan provided by a Supervisor. Move core with appropriate assistance as required according to established occupational health and safety practice. Essential Requirements A person is to provide evidence that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption. A Certificate IV from a recognised tertiary institution, or an equivalent qualification, appropriate to the nature of the work. A willingness to undertake further studies in the field of geology. Ongoing learning will be required associated with a planned future instrumental upgrade. Past experience in obtaining spectral data from rock or mineral specimens.
