Overview: Full-time, Continuing position Salary HEW 5 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements Based at the Bundoora campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University About The Position The Technical Officer will report directly to the Technical Coordinator and will be responsible for delivering technical support and advice to users and functions within the designated laboratories and workspaces. This role involves maintaining and demonstrating the proper use of laboratory equipment and instruments, as well as providing technical assistance to both staff and students. Working under the direction of the Technical Coordinator, the individual in this role will be expected to ensure the timely upkeep of the laboratories and workshops. Additionally, they will support the implementation and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards, ensuring the provision of professional, client-focused service. To be successful in this position, you’ll have: Demonstrated knowledge/experience in a Biosciences-related field, including experience in Physical Containment levels 1 and 2 laboratory facilities, gardens, and greenhouses. Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining laboratory-based instruments/equipment relevant to Biosciences and generating appropriate operating documentation. Proven track record of building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including understanding and embracing a client-focused framework. Demonstrated understanding of current OH&S legislation with knowledge of other field or industry regulations or standards related to the field within the scope of the service area. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with a diverse range of people from various backgrounds. Demonstrated experience and understanding of working in accordance with the RMIT value statements or similar frameworks in other organisations.
