Retail Floor Manager – Fly Fishing Specialist Full-Time Position | Tuesday-Saturday Location: 211 Moray St, South Melbourne, VIC, Australia $40 per hour ($25 USD) + Super | 2 Month Trial The Flyfisher is Australia’s largest fly fishing retailer, with a thriving online presence and well established store in Melbourne. Since 1967, we’ve been Australia’s source of the world’s best fly gear. As fly fishing continues to grow in Australia, we’re seeking a passionate individual to help us enhance our customer experience, drive sales, and expand our reach. As the Retail Floor Manager, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while managing daily retail operations. Our customers choose us because of our expertise, and your role will be to meet and exceed their expectations by providing knowledgeable and friendly service. Main Responsibilities: Serve customers to a high standard while maximizing sales. Keep the retail shop clean, organized, and well-presented. Pack and process mail/online orders efficiently. Handle customer inquiries via phone and email. Process rod repairs and manage stock taking and ordering. Price and display stock effectively to enhance the shopping experience. What We’re Looking For: Must have fly shop experience and we expect you to have a solid foundation in these key areas: Fly fishing gear – An understanding of rods, reels, lines, flies, and accessories. Fly fishing techniques – Experience in different fishing styles and conditions. Sales ability – The confidence and skills to engage with customers and drive sales. Shop admin & merchandising – Ability to maintain stock, pricing, and presentation. Customer service – A commitment to making every customer feel valued and respected. Skills & Attributes: A genuine passion for fly fishing and fly tying. Interest in learning about the latest gear – whether we stock it or not. Positive, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented approach to work. Patience and strong communication skills for dealing with customers and staff. Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse, and dynamic environment. Initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Professionalism in customer interactions, even under pressure. Commitment to continuous learning and improvement in product knowledge and sales techniques.
