NSW Health Pathology is currently seeking a resilient, passionate, and dedicated individual who wants to gain experience in our Haematology and Transfusion Laboratories, at Westmead Health Precinct.Ideally, you have successfully completed your first year, enrolled part-time in a BSc degree comprising of Haematology and Transfusion relevant subjects.We are currently seeking a Trainee for a 4-day appointment as a Trainee Hospital Scientist for up to two years; however, you will receive 12-month appointments to align with university. You will receive first-hand training and experience within our busy Haematology and Transfusion laboratories. What we can offer you Generous salary packaging options and other fringe benefits Corporate wellbeing programs, including the Fitness Passport Learning and development opportunities, including in-house training with RTO My Health Learning What you'll be doing Learn and practice basic laboratory work in a pathology setting in conjunction with completing an approved University program in pathology or laboratory medicine.This position is suitable for an undergraduate student who is studying part-time in a Pathology-related university degree course and is only available while the incumbent is still studying in the appropriate course.Under supervision, perform a range of laboratory support and/or specimen reception services and/or collection services, and provide assistance to laboratory staff to deliver a patient-focused service.Interested in joining Australia’s largest public pathology service? Apply now by addressing the following questions: Current enrolment in a relevant science degree (pathology or medical laboratory science, with subjects relevant to Haematology and Transfusion) with a minimum of one year full-time equivalent study completed and one year of study remaining. Willingness to learn all aspects of the laboratory environment relevant to the laboratory. Demonstrated verbal and written communication and consultation skills. Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively in a values-based team environment to achieve quality outcomes. Excellent data entry skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy. Awareness of legislation, policies, and requirements relevant to a pathology laboratory setting. Willing to study part-time and work 4 days per week for the duration of the traineeship.
