Organisation/Entity: Transport For NSW Job category: Senior Executive Job location: Sydney, NSW, AU, 2000 Job reference number: 97820 Employment type: Permanent Full-Time Salary range: $0.0-$0.0 We are seeking 3 Board Members to bring significant strategic vision, industry expertise and strong leadership to the Transport Asset Manager (TAM) governance. They will work collectively with other members of the TAM Advisory Board to provide effective and objective advice to influence and guide the strategic operation of TAM. It will advise on matters referred to the Board by the Chief Executive and Minister for Transport, specifically related to policy, strategy and organisational direction. Board Members operate with the highest levels of integrity, contributing to the overall strategic direction of TAM and are required to navigate corporate issues and provide advice on resolutions. The Organisation Transport for NSW leads the development of safe, sustainable, integrated and equitable transport systems for the people of NSW – evolving our state transport network to offer greater choice and seamless experiences to meet the diverse needs of its users. It works collaboratively with passengers, the workforce, industry and across government to unlock better services, economic potential, and social connectivity. As part of Transport for NSW’s transformative agenda, the Transport Asset Manager (TAM) has been established to enhance the safety and reliability of the state's rail assets, facilitating long-term investment in rail infrastructure, while also allowing for efficient operations comparable to private sector standards. TAM will manage the NSW rail asset portfolio, promote access for freight operators, and streamline negotiations for access agreements – simplifying asset management by consolidating responsibilities within a single entity, reducing overlap and enhancing strategic planning for rail investments. As a separate NSW statutory corporation, TAM will provide strategic oversight and assurance of the planning, procurement and maintenance of the State's transport assets, operating under Ministerial oversight and with an expert advisory board. With the primary objective of ensuring a safe and reliable network, TAM will also pursue social objectives such as investment in social housing, alongside its investment in rail assets. Key areas of knowledge of a Board Member include: Governance and Leadership Strategic Planning Compliance and Legal Obligations Advocacy and Representation Knowledge and/or understanding of public sector enabling legislation. Extensive understanding and experience in rail operations and an understanding of the regulatory frameworks which govern and regulate transport assets. Significant understanding of asset management frameworks in the heavy rail sector. Significant experience in the management of property and portfolio management. Significant understanding and experience working with Audit and Risk Committees. Experience working with ministers, parliamentary processes, political landscapes and navigating complex issues.
