Transport Operations Allocator Location: Melbourne (Derrimut) Don Watson Transport is a leading refrigerated transport company servicing the East Coast of Australia. We are seeking dedicated professionals to join our transport Operations team based in Derrimut, Victoria. This is a permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday, office based, with 7:30am starts and 10-hour shifts. Key Responsibilities: Optimise LTL and FTL freight for national linehaul routes. Consider the following variables while holding safety as a core feature: Driver fatigue scheduling Consignor and consignee location Freight temperature specifications Consignment weight and dimensions Equipment selection and prioritisation Liaise with drivers. Collaborate with DC staff. Communicate and coordinate with customers. Train and comply with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations. Handle additional operational tasks as needed. Desired Qualities: Open to developing new skills. Willing to adapt daily strategies as external variables change. Solid communication skills to interact with diverse groups, including drivers and customers. Strong proficiency with a Transport Management System such as Freight 2020, TruckMate, Jaix, etc. Reasonable proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). While the role is dynamic, it’s well suited to a person of calm demeanour holding sharp problem-solving skills.
