Residential role based in Tasmania 8/6 roster Underground Production/ Operations Engineer Permanent role Your new company Our client is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in Tasmania, Australia. The mine is a deep, sublevel open stoping operation with complex mining conditions. Your new role The Operations Engineer acts as a critical link between the technical and operational teams, ensuring safe and efficient execution of drilling, blasting, development, and backfilling activities. The key duties include: Liaise with Production Engineers, Operations Superintendents, and Shift Supervisors during shift planning to ensure alignment with operational targets. Act as a conduit between technical and operational teams, ensuring the long-term mine plan informs and supports short-term decisions. Ensure quality handovers are completed, providing accurate and actionable information to facilitate seamless operational continuity. Monitor and report on underground conditions, including rehabilitation, cabling, stockpile management, broken stocks, waste stocks, drilling, charging, and pumping activities. Provide input into weekly schedules with a focus on practicality, accuracy, and alignment with broader operational goals. What you'll need to succeed Mine Engineer qualifications. 2-5 years of experience in underground metalliferous mining. Comprehensive knowledge of underground mining methods, equipment, and processes, with a focus on operational efficiency and safety. In-depth understanding of drilling and blasting techniques. Strong grasp of short-term scheduling principles, ensuring alignment with long-term mine plans and operational priorities. Knowledge of underground ventilation principles.
