We work side-by-side with managers and staff to offer practical guidance in areas like training, development, recruitment, health and safety, and much more. As our new WHS Business Partner, you will be a trusted resource, providing expert advice on everything from safety initiatives to risk management. Your role will include guiding managers on our WHS and Critical Risk Frameworks, supporting compliance, and developing training to enhance safety awareness and compliance across SCU. Key areas where you will make an impact: Expert Advice and Support: Provide sophisticated guidance to managers and staff on health, safety, and wellbeing activities, focusing on building organisational capabilities, behaviours, and processes to meet university and research project plans and strategies. Safety and Risk Management: Deliver expert advice on safety initiatives, hazard and risk management, and staff development, including critical planning and management in these areas. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare detailed reporting and analysis to inform decision-making, addressing both current and future business needs, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements. Case Management and Conflict Resolution: Advise on case management issues, manage WHS-related conflicts, and collaborate with HR services to deliver responsive solutions to people-related issues. Enhance Systems: Oversee and improve the Riskware WHS system, making it a go-to resource for risk management. Build Awareness: Develop and roll out engaging training sessions, building a safety-first culture throughout our campuses. About you We’re seeking an experienced WHS professional driven to make a real impact on workplace safety. You will enjoy the challenge of supporting a diverse range of high-risk, safety-critical environments from classrooms and labs to marine, chemical, aviation, construction, and heavy industry settings. With strong communication skills and a knack for conflict resolution, you’re skilled at building relationships to deliver safety improvements across a dynamic and varied organisation. What you will bring: A degree or formal WHS qualifications and ideally 4+ years in a WHS advisory role. Proven skill in report writing and WHS policy development. Strong communication and conflict resolution skills; able to connect about safety at all levels. Data-driven mindset with experience in risk reporting systems and metrics analysis to shape safety strategies. Proven project management skills to lead impactful WHS initiatives. Strength in building internal and external relationships to enhance safety and service outcomes. Salary and benefits We offer a rewarding package that supports both your career and well-being. This position is: Full-time, continuing role based at our beautiful Northern Rivers campus. HEW Level 8 with a base salary ranging from $116,672 - $128,651 per year plus 17% superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $151,808.
