The role is based in Canberra and offers an immediate start.Overview This role will support the Department exercise capability development and sustainment accountabilities within the Defence Capability Lifecycle. Supporting outcomes across all four phases of the Defence Capability Lifecycle, industry participation will see effort applied across a range of products, strategy-based initiatives, and a broad stakeholder environment.The Sustainment Project Manager will manage numerous small projects across a range of in-service warfighting networks and applications products. They will perform project management activities on behalf of the Capability Manager and will ensure that capability management equities are adequately addressed.Roles And Responsibilities Plan, control, deliver and close Sustainment projects. Identify, translate and document business objectives and user needs. Define project objectives, scope, roles & responsibilities, identify and manage project risks and opportunities and manage resource requirements. Estimate and manage project budget requirements and technical solutions, ensuring value for money for the Commonwealth throughout all stages of the project. Develop work package definitions, from which prepare detailed project plans and schedules and manage project delivery. Prioritise project activities and monitor project KPIs. Prepare briefs, minutes and other formal Defence documentation to document decisions, request guidance and communicate outcomes. Essential Skills, Qualifications And Experience Previous ICT project experience. Previous experience managing Defence projects. Proficiency in project management software and tools. Desirable skills, qualifications and experience: Tertiary qualification or formal certifications in relevant field. Experience in network operations, system administration or software development. Knowledge of Defence ICT systems and tools. Experience with contract negotiation.
