Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA) is delivering capability to the Australian Defence Force by uniting the best Australian and South Korean technology and practices. HDA has officially opened a $170 million manufacturing facility known as the Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE), next to Avalon Airport in Geelong, which will bring high technology vehicle manufacturing back to the region. Your new role: Due to company growth, we are expanding our WHS team. Reporting into our WHS Manager you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees within the organisation. This role involves implementing and maintaining effective health and safety systems, policies, and procedures to minimize risks and hazards across various work settings. You will collaborate with management, employees, and relevant stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires a dedicated and proactive individual who is committed to promoting a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. Our WHS Advisor will demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and a genuine concern for the well-being of others while striving for continuous improvement in health and safety performance. You will be based in our newly built manufacturing facility in Avalon . Your primary areas of responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with relevant legislative requirements and industry best practices. Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks. Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on matters relating to health and safety, including safe work practices, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Facilitate health and safety training sessions, workshops, and inductions to ensure all employees are adequately informed and trained to perform their duties safely. Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, and hazards, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for improvement and prevention. Liaise with regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and external consultants to stay abreast of changes in legislation, standards, and best practices, and ensure compliance. As an ideal candidate you will have: Qualifications: Certificate 4 or higher in Occupational Health and Safety. Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment is highly desirable. Experience: Experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a diverse and dynamic work environment. Skills and Key Attributes: Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, ISO45001 and other standards pertaining to health and safety. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, investigate incidents, and develop practical solutions. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively, with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in using computer software and systems for data analysis, reporting, and record-keeping.
