The Longford region is predominantly agricultural, noted for wool, dairy produce, and stock breeding. With its high rainfall and cold winters, it’s a perfect environment for growing pasture-fed cattle. Longford’s complex medium sized fully integrated processing facility produces a range of grass and grain fed beef products under brands such as King Island Beef, Red Gum, Great Southern, Pinnacle and Little Joes. JBS Longford exports to over 30 countries around the world including Brazil, China, Switzerland, and the EU. Longford’s plant employs approximately 300 team members with a current processing capacity of 550 head of cattle per day, operating 5 days a week. About the role: An exciting opportunity exists at our Longford Plant for a WH&S Officer. We are seeking a passionate and energetic individual who is committed to the position and providing an effective professional service. As part of the JBS Longford team, you will be part of a global team that is internationally recognized for quality products. The successful applicant for the position will be highly motivated, experienced and drive a reduction in injury rates by providing effective support and professional advice on all Workplace Health and Safety related issues across the site. Responsibilities: Ensure efficient and effective WHS practices that are aligned to business objectives and values. Adherence with JBS Safety management systems. Ensure compliance to all legislation, policies and procedures including but not limited to WHS, Confined Space, PPE, Legionella, Asbestos, etc. Investigate all work-related injuries, illnesses and or dangerous events. Develop effective relationships with all relevant internal, external stakeholders and employees. Complete all necessary reporting including internal and external requirements. Create and maintain a positive safety culture. Criteria: Current senior level first aid certificate and H&S certification desired but not essential. Previous experience in investigating workplace related injuries or illnesses. Sound technical knowledge of meat processing. Highly developed time management skills including prioritizing and multi-tasking. Ability to demonstrate strong competence in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other computer programs.
