89818, 88428, 89408 | APS3 - Collection Management Officers About the National Film and Sound Archive The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) is Australia’s audiovisual archive, telling the national story by collecting, preserving and sharing audiovisual media. The collection itself dates back to 1935, making it one of the world’s oldest audiovisual collections. It is also one of the country’s most used cultural collections, with around 125 million views of collection content each year. The NFSA is in a period of significant change, establishing itself as Australia’s most dynamic and valued cultural organisation. About the Team The Collection Management team is part of the Conservation & Collection Management section of the Collection Preservation Branch. The team undertakes a broad range of operational activities ensuring the National Collection is accessible, audited, and stored in accordance with established standards. The Opportunity The Collection Management Officer plays a key role in stocktaking, shelf checks, storage, collection care, retrieval, accessioning, packaging, return, and relocation of collection material. These activities are to be conducted in accordance with established archival practices and procedures. Key Responsibilities Assist and support various Collection Management projects including the annual stocktaking and auditing program. Assist with retrievals and associated Collection Management activities. The safe loading and transportation of collection items. Examine and prepare collection material for long term storage using the NFSA’s Collection Management System. Provide on-site support for the NFSA’s Property & Security team. Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience in handling and management of collection materials in an archive, museum, or library environment. Ability to work constructively as a member of a team in a client service environment. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to apply organisational skills and perform set tasks with consistently high-quality results. An understanding of Workplace Health and Safety and Workplace Diversity practices. Mandatory: A current “C” class driver’s licence. Experience working with collections in the gallery, museum, library, or archive sector. Relevant qualifications in cultural heritage management and/or collection management.
