ABOUT THE ROLE The AFL Officiating Operations Lead will play an important role in the overall Umpiring Department. This role will be specifically focused on supporting the AFL Officiating & Operations Manager, planning and scheduling of match day officials and umpires across the AFL’s elite competitions. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF The AFL Officiating Operations Lead will be responsible for but not limited to the following core elements of the role: Payroll and Rostering: Managing the fortnightly payment of all Elite AFL and AFLW Umpires and Match Officials using the AFL’s Deputy payroll system Maintain accuracy and integrity of base and sundry payments for all AFL and AFLW Umpires Understand and implement the core components of the AFL/AFLUA Collective Bargaining Agreement Effectively lead and manage the onboarding process for new umpires and officials Manage and lead the rostering, training, and education of all Ball Stewards Management of Match Officials: Support the preparation and distribution of weekly match day information across elite competitions Manage the administration and compliance of the accreditation process for all full-time, part-time and casual staff working in the AFL Umpiring Department across elite competitions Implement a system to assess and review the performance of Ball Stewards Monitor the performance of all Ball Stewards across the AFL and AFLW General Administration: Management and review of relevant manuals and guidelines for match officials Manage the administration of the AFL’s most prestigious awards including the Brownlow Medal and AFLW Best & Fairest Award ensuring strict adherence to process and confidentiality Proactively network with Umpires and training staff across Australia Various administrative support functions as required OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER Core Competencies: Experience working in a complex and dynamic environment Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Exceptional attention to detail Must be efficient and have exceptional organisational skills Ability to improve processes and work under pressure Mandatory: Experience in rostering, managing staff, understanding payroll and payment terms and conditions Proven ability to anticipate potential issues and proactively resolve them before they arise Ability to manage internal and external stakeholder relationships Proactively solve problems in an effective and timely manner Capacity to adapt communications style to engage specific audiences Experience working in an office setting Attendance at AFL House on AFL Connect days (3 days a week) Excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, decision making and time management skills Tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Sports Management, Human Resources or related field Attend umpire training sessions as required (Tuesday afternoons) Some attendance at games may be required on occasions Has a passion and connection to Australia’s game #J-18808-Ljbffr
