Job Description

Achieve Group are seeking a dedicated Senior Project Officer to join a State Government department in a 4 month contract. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring statutory compliance, environmental risk assessment, and the promotion of responsible agricultural chemical use in priority reef catchments. Your work will help mitigate land-based pesticide runoff and contribute to the improvement of water quality monitoring programs.Key Responsibilities As our Senior Project Officer, you will:Conduct regulatory monitoring, surveillance, and audits to ensure compliance with the Chemical Usage (Agricultural and Veterinary) Control Act 1988 Assess and mitigate environmental and agricultural risks, ensuring all issues are documented, reviewed, and escalated as needed Lead stakeholder engagement and extension activities to promote compliance awareness in priority reef catchments Collaborate with industry bodies to promote best practices in pesticide use, focusing on reducing pesticide runoff and encouraging behavior change Align Best Management Practice programs to ensure pesticide use meets statutory obligations and industry standards Evaluate pesticide use patterns in identified risk areas and contribute to reef water quality monitoring feedback Lead medium-sized projects, managing timelines and deliverables in alignment with larger project workplans Conduct research and analysis to support project development, identify emerging issues, and recommend actionable solutions What You Will Bring Mandatory : A current ‘C’ class driver’s license Desirable :Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or transferable experience Knowledge of chemical stewardship, best practice management for pesticide use, and agricultural chemical operations (storage, preparation, application, and label requirements) Why Join Us?This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a State Government department committed to the sustainable management of agricultural chemicals and the protection of vital ecosystems.
