Your role Role Purpose The Accounts & Payroll Officer is responsible for managing daily banking and receipting activities, reconciling the cash book, and processing payments for the Capricorn Group. This role ensures high-quality accounting, reporting, and drives continual process improvements. Additionally, the position involves supporting processing payroll for employees across Australia and New Zealand, remitting payroll taxes, managing government reporting, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. The role also provides specialist payroll advice and ensures adherence to all relevant regulations. Skills, Knowledge and Attributes Proficiency in MS Office software product suite. Exposure to ERP system is desirable. Comprehensive and working knowledge of payroll systems, preferably Meridian. Comprehensive legislative knowledge to provide internal advice/interpret changes impacting the Company and ensure compliance. Proven ability to interpret awards and understand labour and payroll legislation and processes (e.g. tax, superannuation etc.) Sound analytical, report writing and problem-solving abilities. A positive and proactive approach and a desire to take ownership and responsibility for the area. Excellent communication skills to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organisation. Experience Minimum 3 years’ professional experience within Payroll with demonstrated understanding of accounting principles. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in commerce or a related discipline is desirable but not essential.
