The Accreditation Manager at the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) is key in leading accreditation activities to ensure high-quality accreditation services for psychology higher education. The role leads the Accreditation Team and Assessors in providing expert advice and support to the Accreditation Assessment Committee, assessors, education providers and other key stakeholders. APAC’s accreditation functions: Developing standards for the education and training of psychologists for approval by the Psychology Board of Australia Assessing higher education providers and the programs of study they offer to determine whether they meet the approved accreditation standards Supporting higher education providers in developing and maintaining high-quality programs of education and training in psychology Advising and consulting with other bodies on matters of education and training relevant to the psychology discipline and profession POSITION DESCRIPTION Leadership & Management: Lead, coach and develop the Accreditation Team and manage the allocation of resources to ensure the effective and timely delivery of assessment activities Ensure the provision of consistently high-standard accreditation services that are delivered in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner, consistent with contemporary best practices in professional accreditation Lead an accreditation team and engage with colleagues in a manner that aligns with APAC values Lead, and ensure delivery of accreditation projects identified by the Board, AAC or CEO from time to time Develop and maintain a culture of excellence in customer service to all stakeholders that align with APAC values Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including Board and AAC members, APAC assessors, education providers, the PsyBA, Ahpra, other accrediting councils and regulatory partners Liaise with education providers, assessors, other relevant stakeholders and APAC staff regarding accreditation matters, including the provision of accreditation information and program development advice, as necessary Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement in APAC’s accreditation activities Identify opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of APAC’s accreditation services and processes Provide expert policy, process and planning advice to the AAC Oversee the planning and organisation of meetings of the AAC and associated APAC working committees Prepare papers and reports for consideration by the AAC, as necessary Accreditation Standards, policies, processes and systems: Oversee and guide the accreditation function ensuring consistency and adherence to the Standards, rules and policies Oversee the review and development of APAC, policies, processes and procedures as necessary Ensure the maintenance of information related to accreditation on the APAC website Contribute to the review and revision of APAC’s Accreditation Standards Program assessment and monitoring: Ensure that systems and strategies are in place for the assessment and ongoing monitoring of accredited programs Analyse stakeholders’ views regarding APAC’s accreditation activities and making recommendations for quality improvements, where appropriate Administration: Ensure that administrative and information management systems support APAC’s accreditation processes Work with the CEO, develop and manage the annual accreditation budget Other: Work cooperatively and collegially with staff of the APAC office Contribute to team meetings, projects and events Perform any other duties as may be reasonably required SELECTION CRITERIA Technical knowledge Experience in higher education program accreditation, professional regulation, education and health, public or government sectors Experience with quality assurance processes and/or applying education or regulatory standards Experience in the tertiary education sector Knowledge of higher education provider programs, systems and academic processes Clear understanding of the role of accreditation and quality assurance in the higher education sector and professional education Experience in developing, drafting and reviewing policies and procedures Significant experience in developing and drafting reports, briefings and committee papers Experience in developing, interpreting and applying processes, standards, guidelines or similar Ability to and experience identifying and implementing improvements to operational processes Strong attention to detail, including demonstrated ability to set priorities to deliver quality and accurate results on time reliably High-level administrative skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office packages (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Personal attributes and skills Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to mentor and coach team members Ability to take a strategic view of the role of accreditation in the organisation Ability to lead quality improvement initiatives Capacity to work collaboratively within a small team and self-direct to accomplish shared goals. Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities and a variable and sometimes unpredictable workload. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated capacity to liaise with various stakeholders, including dealing with complex and confidential matters. Strong focus on providing excellent service to stakeholders and ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of seniority. Demonstrated flexibility concerning work tasks. Desirable but not essential: Qualifications and desirable experience Experience leading a high-performing team Experience working with complex administrative processes Knowledge of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme Relevant tertiary qualification and/or commensurate experience POSITION IN CONTEXT The Accreditation Manager supports APAC’s accreditation activities and engages with qualified assessors to ensure the provision of high-quality accreditation services. The role leads the Accreditation Team and the provision of expert advice and support to the Accreditation Assessment Committee, assessors, education providers and other key stakeholders. BACKGROUND: APAC The Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) is an independent quality and standards organisation. We develop and review the standards for accreditation of psychology programs of study at all universities (HEPs) in Australia. We: Develop and maintain standards for the education and training of psychologists. Assess the psychology programs of study of higher education providers (HEP) to determine whether they meet the approved Accreditation Standards. Monitor HEPs’ accredited psychology programs of study to ensure they continue to meet the approved Accreditation Standards. Provide advice and consultation to the PsyBA and other bodies on education and training relevant to the psychology profession and discipline.
