Assistant Director, Governance and Support Flexible (Any Location) Ongoing/Non-ongoing, Full Time/Part Time EL1 Governance and Support Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Who we are We are Australia’s National Vocational Education and Training (VET) regulator. What we do We regulate providers that deliver VET qualifications and courses to students in Australia or offer Australian qualifications internationally, providers that deliver VET courses to overseas students, and certain providers that deliver English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students. We also accredit VET courses to make sure nationally approved standards are met. Why we do it We ensure quality VET so that students, industry, governments and the community have confidence in the integrity of national qualifications issued by training providers, and that students are protected from any practices that come at the expense of their ability to gain the required competencies. About the Opportunity We are seeking an Assistant Director in Governance and Support to lead a small team within ASQA’s Digital Transformation Program, to successfully: Drive non-delivery program functions, such as the coordination and reporting of Program risks/issues and management of Program benefits. Manage Program governance, including review of Program frameworks, processes, and plans. Oversee effective management and facilitation of Program Board, supporting the secretariat function where required. Ensure accurate and timely reporting on Program performance and status. Manage vendor contracts and the Program budget. Oversee the logistics for Program functions, such as Program Increment Planning. Provide strategic advice and guidance to the external Program Board, the Chief Digital Officer, and Senior Responsible Officer on ongoing Program performance. Build effective working relationships with business partners, Program teams, external vendors, assurance partners and auditors. Key responsibilities include: Champion the importance of governance and assurance across the Program, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Provide strategic advice and guidance to the external Program Board, the Chief Digital Officer, and Senior Responsible Officer on ongoing Program performance. Facilitate the Program Board monthly meetings and present analysis of progress, risks and issues. Ensure there is visibility of program and project dependencies across the Agency, highlighting any risks or issues to the Program Board and other governance mechanisms where necessary. With the CDO and other Program members, shape the development of proposals that drive benefits realization for the Agency. Build effective working relationships with business partners, Program teams, external vendors, assurance partners and auditors. Manage the Program budget and vendor/contractor engagements. Skills and experience To succeed in this role, you will have: Ability to work collaboratively within a team, including providing leadership support to colleagues. Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, support the management of change, and inspire a sense of purpose and direction consistent with ASQA Values. Demonstrated experience in a Program-level Governance and Support or PMO role. Demonstrated ability to turn strategies into actionable plans and to execute on those plans. Ability to communicate strategic and operational information in both written and verbal contexts, in a clear and concise manner to multiple audiences. Demonstrated capacity to manage collaborative stakeholder relationships to achieve positive outcomes. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and perform in a fast-paced environment. Desirable Qualifications in Project Management, Business, Governance, or other suitable qualifications. An understanding of Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia, including the regulatory framework (or the capacity to quickly develop such an understanding). Experience operating in a Program delivery setting that operates under Agile and Human-Centred Design frameworks.
