About the team The department's Shared Services Hub provides payroll services to a number of different client agencies. The Shared Services Hub is committed to delivering effective and efficient payroll services in partnership with our client agencies. The Hub is seeing increased interest from other agencies to utilise our payroll delivery services and we are entering a period of growth. Working in the Hub presents a unique opportunity to be involved in innovative service delivery environment relating to both systems and processes. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to build professional networks and collaborate with colleagues across the APS. The Hub utilises the Aurion HRMS. Teamwork and effective client engagement are essential components of our service delivery, including onboarding of new client agencies and resolving issues as well as BAU payroll delivery. The opportunity This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team delivering payroll to a range of client agencies with over 14,000 payslips processed fortnightly. The team adopts a collaborative and energetic approach to service delivery and places a strong emphasis on meeting and exceeding service levels and building positive relationships with our client agencies. You will manage a team to deliver a wide range of key tasks within the fortnightly pay cycle, prioritise your team’s workload, solve complex issues and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture. Our ideal candidate Our ideal candidate has the following capabilities: Ability to manage a team of payroll officers, including building a positive team culture, setting clear expectations and priorities and ensuring quality and timeliness of work. Excellent customer service skills, including using initiative and the ability to foster effective working relationships with client agency stakeholders at all levels. Able to work in a team environment within and across the Hub. Capability to effectively support the Manager Payroll Delivery to deliver quality outcomes. Excellent written, communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to effectively negotiate and influence outcomes. Knowledge of and adherence to information management and privacy procedures. Ability to resolve complex issues, solve problems and demonstrate sound judgement with attention to detail. Strong organisational skills, including energy and drive, and the ability to manage priorities to achieve results. Resilient with a positive attitude and responsive to changing and competing priorities. Ability to juggle multiple tasks while still delivering high quality results. Values inclusion and diversity and demonstrates respect for APS Values. The following experience is highly valued: Experience in leading a payroll delivery team. Strong skills in payroll systems, helpdesk systems and Microsoft Office products. Familiarity with APS working conditions and procedures. What you will do As the Payroll Delivery Assistant Manager, you will: Lead a payroll delivery team to complete business-as-usual (BAU) payroll transactions, queries and related correspondence. Resolve complex issues in partnership with client agencies and internal Hub stakeholders. Understand and apply relevant APS legislation and terms and conditions including Enterprise Agreement policy and procedures. Provide clear, comprehensive and accurate verbal and/or written advice to stakeholders within appropriate timeframes regarding payroll matters. Monitor and support team workloads to meet deadlines and quality-assure the daily work of the team. Manage, guide, and support team members through regular feedback. Promote teamwork at all times, including across teams during busy periods. Participate in the development and delivery of cross-Hub projects. Eligibility To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
