Continuing, full-time position – 3 x positions available $69,636 to $75,406 per annum (HEO4) Plus 17% employer superannuation with salary packaging options are available. Applicants must have appropriate Australian work rights for the duration of this position Apply Now Closing Date: 11:59pm, Sunday 23 February 2025 Reference No: 225009 To be considered, applications must be submitted via and include a cover letter, CV and address the selection criteria (refer to the position statement available on UNE's website) About the role Based within UNE’s Centre for Animal Research & Teaching (CART), as Technical Officer you will primarily be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of CART facilities, the care and welfare of animals within them, and the provision of technical support across all areas of CART teaching and research. Reporting to the Operations and Training Manager, the role supports industry best practice in the conduct and welfare of research and teaching activities in multi-disciplinary areas. If you are an enthusiastic, team-oriented contributor with a desire to provide high quality support across all areas of teaching and research within an animal research facility, then this role could be for you. About you To be successful you will ideally have previous experience in the handling and care of animals with demonstrated expertise in the operation and maintenance of a range of facilities, equipment, and techniques as would apply for an animal research centre. A sound understanding and ability to demonstrate commitment to the application of Work Health & Safety, risk assessment, and risk management principles will be required. You should also have a high level of time management skills along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your priority will be ensuring the delivery of the highest standards of professional behaviour and customer service that supports both internal and external stakeholders and the delivery of quality outcomes. About the Business Unit The Centre for Animal Research and Teaching (CART) is an essential service provider of animal research facilities and technical training within the Faculty of Science, Agriculture, Business and Law (SABL). The facilities enable high quality animal research and experimentation, which are important to maintaining the reputation of UNE as a provider of quality research outcomes to a range of agricultural industries. The CART also provides facilities that support Australian wildlife and biomedical research. An additional function of the CART is to provide facilities and technical assistance that underpin training and educational opportunities for higher degree researcher (HDR) and undergraduate students enrolled at UNE.
