The Role Registered Nurses in our Mental Health units play an important role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care across both acute and rehabilitation-focused settings. Unlike traditional hospital environments, patients in these units are often mobile, requiring nurses to engage actively, build therapeutic alliances, and support adherence to behavioural management programs. You will be responsible for administering medications appropriately, persisting with clients to achieve positive outcomes, and working within the legal frameworks of the NSW Mental Health Act and Guardianship Act. While the focus is psychiatric rather than physical, the role demands strong clinical skills, empathy, and a commitment to patient advocacy. Nurses in these units help patients and their families navigate treatment, understand clinical interventions, and make informed healthcare decisions.
