Chapter Lead, Automation Development At Optus Administration Pty Ltd, we have an ambitious goal to be Australia's most loved everyday brand. As Chapter Lead, Automation Development, you will lead a team of developers with diverse experience levels, driving best practices in automation, DevOps, and software development. You will be responsible for mentoring and equipping your team with the skills and tools needed to deliver high-quality automation solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives. This role requires a strong technical background in programming, cloud platforms, and CI/CD, combined with hands-on leadership in Agile methodologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, set development standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding automation strategies, optimizing processes, and supporting squads in delivering key initiatives across the Networks Automation Delivery practice. Your day in the life: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of skilled automation developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, DevOps, and CI/CD to enhance efficiency and reliability. Collaborate with stakeholders across Platform Engineering, Squads, and Operations to align automation initiatives with business objectives. Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring seamless planning, development, testing, and deployment of automation solutions. Stay ahead of industry trends, guiding the team in adopting emerging technologies and automation strategies to optimize business outcomes. Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring robust security, compliance, and performance across automation platforms and tools. Your skills to pay the bills: At least 8 years of experience in software development and DevOps engineering, with a strong background in automation. A minimum of 4 years in people management, including mentoring, coaching, and driving high team engagement. Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience in designing, developing, and implementing software solutions, with a focus on automation and cloud deployment (AWS, Azure). Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders, drive Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe), and manage complex technical initiatives.
