Up to Full Time Hours Location: Morwell Salary: $105,380.60 to $117,233.48 plus 11.5% superannuation Department: Governance Reporting to the Manager Governance, this is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to work with the Executive, Councillors, and staff at this council, and engage with your sector counterparts. About The Role As Coordinator Council Business, you will provide leadership with a focus on continuous improvement. You will undertake staff development and set clear direction for the team and monitor progress in line with agreed deliverables. You will ensure that Council satisfies its governance requirements and service expectations across a range of functions related to Council meetings, Council committees, Elections and By-Elections, and support for the Mayor and Councillors. You will provide expert advice to the Mayor, Councillors, Officers, and members of the public regarding Latrobe City governance and integrity requirements including with respect to relevant legislative instruments, governance rules, conflict of interest requirements, place naming rules, and Councillor Code of Conduct. About You Using your governance expertise and judgement, along with a strong attention to detail and organisational skills, you will provide high quality governance services and support for Councillors and Council. Duties include to: deliver a consistently high standard of service on the operation of the Council meeting cycle function coordinate, review, and maintain Council Policies and Operational Policies communicate effectively with a range of people ensuring a high standard of public relations organise and plan workflow, set priorities and meet deadlines to meet the position’s designated objectives despite conflicting pressures. You will have: A tertiary qualification in law, business administration, or other relevant field with several years’ experience or lesser formal qualification with extensive relevant experience. Several years of administration experience at a senior level. Highly developed interpersonal, public relations, communications and organisational skills. Experience in managing an audit committee and delegations. Project management is desirable. Experience in local government at a leadership level is desirable and/or experience in Council operations.
