Do you have the vision and leadership skills to shape and deliver impactful programs and policies that make a difference across local councils and communities? We have an exciting opportunity for a Director Companion Animals Policy and Programs to join the Office of Local Government. The Office of Local Government has recently restructured to be sharper in its focus on how it can improve the development of the sector, while also strengthening its performance. These changes are part of making the Office of Local Government a more effective regulator of councils. As the Director Companion Animals Policy and Programs, you will lead the development and implementation of a range of program and policy initiatives that support responsible pet ownership and registration, companion animal management practices and related sector improvements and programs that positively impact animal welfare, monitoring and control across local councils. A key aspect of this role will be fostering strong relationships with councils, communities and stakeholders to ensure collaborative program delivery; and designing and executing communication strategies to address a diverse set of stakeholder concerns about pet ownership and management. About You To be successful in this role, you will be a strategic leader with a deep understanding of companion animal policies, combined with extensive experience in high-level policy analysis and interpretation. You will also have a proven track record of leading complex programs and projects on time and within budget. The key to your success will be your exceptional stakeholder management skills which enables you to successfully build and maintain effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. You will also have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire, collaborate and deliver results in a complex and multi-stakeholder environment. It is essential that you have strong communication and negotiation skills with experience in preparing high-quality reports, policies and briefings.
