We have an exciting opportunity for a Director Sector Policy to join the Office of Local Government. The Office of Local Government has recently restructured to be sharper in its focus on how it can improve the development of the sector, while also strengthening its performance. These changes are part of making the Office of Local Government a more effective regulator of councils. As the Director Sector Policy, you will lead policy professionals in the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic policy frameworks that allow effective local government in NSW. As an advisor to the Deputy Secretary and Senior Executives, you will play a critical role in forming the policy positions and instruments to develop the local government sector. This is a key role which enables you to cultivate strategic partnerships across multiple government sectors, including a broad mix of stakeholders to enhance collaboration and to support policy development, evaluation and implementation. The role also enables you to focus on building sector knowledge, improving processes, and delivering shared public value. About You To be successful in this role, you will be a dynamic leader with a proven track record in driving the development and implementation of strategic policy and legislative reforms, ideally within government or local government sectors. Your experience in governance, policy development, and implementation in the local government sector will be crucial as you will guide the development of effective policy frameworks. The key to your success will be your strong leadership and people management skills coupled with your ability to lead high-performing teams in complex policy environments. You will also be confident in navigating complex political landscapes that exist at the intersection of multiple levels of government, be adept at building strategic partnerships and engaging with diverse stakeholder groups to drive the delivery of policy and legislative reforms.
