Director, Work Health and Safety Framework Adelaide SA, Brisbane QLD, Canberra ACT, Darwin NT, Hobart TAS, Melbourne VIC, Perth WA, Sydney NSW Reporting to the Assistant Secretary, Work Health and Safety (WHS) Policy Branch, the Director of the WHS Framework team is responsible for leading a team to provide policy advice to the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations and senior executives on a range of WHS issues. The Director will contribute to tripartite policy development, engaging with Commonwealth, state and territory government officials, employer groups and unions, that will have meaningful impact on protecting the safety of workers across Australia. The key duties of the position include: Responsibilities of the EL2 Director include: Leading and managing a team, located in different locations across Australia. Providing policy advice on WHS issues and reforms to the Minister and Senior Executive, including the Commonwealth Safe Work Australia member. Providing policy advice on implementation of WHS in the Commonwealth jurisdiction, maritime industry safety laws, and interactions with other industry-specific safety frameworks. Oversee coordination and briefing for the Commonwealth’s participation on Safe Work Australia, the national tripartite WHS policy body. Implementing and embedding a project management approach, including use of the Workplace Relations Group’s project management toolkit, and establishing project governance frameworks for each key project. Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with stakeholders including portfolio agencies Comcare and Safe Work Australia, Commonwealth agencies, state and territory officials, social partners including unions and industry peaks, researchers, and community groups such as family advocates. Please note, under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing. This is a designated security assessed position. The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
