Job Description: Reporting to the Head Of Creative Operations, the Environment Supervisor works closely with the VFX Supervisor to identify potential strategies, assess technical options, and evaluate production schedules. The Environment Supervisor participates as a leader and hands-on contributor through all stages of 3D Pre and Post Production. Primary Responsibilities: Work with the VFX Supervisor, Leads, and Head of Creative Operations to define the creative and technical approach for the show. Major involvement in the Setup and Creation of 3D high-quality environments that will be delivered to downstream departments. Work with Production to manage the day-to-day running of the team and to evaluate artist schedules ensuring they are realistic and achievable. Brief and Supervise the Environment Assets work to be completed by the Assets team in Bangalore. Ensure that bid days are respected and the best possible product is achieved with those bid days. Attend desk rounds with all members of the team on a regular basis. Attend dailies sessions with the team to give feedback/approvals. Meet with the show leads on a regular basis to identify inefficiencies or technical problems with the toolset and pipeline, and put in place a plan of action to resolve such issues. Ensure that all work carried out on the show fits MPC’s pipeline where possible. Interact professionally with clients. Interpret the client’s vision in respect to environments, in collaboration with the other supervisors attached to the show. Troubleshoot cross-department environment related issues. Collaborate with the software team and act as a stakeholder for any environment related software development projects. Mentor and train the artists assigned to your show to get them up to the required skill level. Qualifications: Skills and Experience: Technical Knowledge/Skills: Strong working knowledge of 3D/2D software packages and pipelines. Knowledge of the entire production process, including stage shooting is preferred. Experience: 4-5 years of Environment/DMP leadership experience using Nuke, Maya, and Renderman on live-action commercial or feature film productions.
