The role: An excellent opportunity to lead Sims Group's external financial reporting, including listed company accounts, global statutory audits, and the development and publication of accounting policies and procedures, while providing expert guidance on complex accounting matters. This role plays a key part in aligning cost structures with business needs, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and positioning Sims Global Finance as a strategic driver of the company's success. Responsibilities: Lead external financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely public reporting of results. Oversee global statutory audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (ASIC, IFRS, ASX). Develop, update, and implement Group Accounting Policies and best-practice financial reporting standards. Provide accounting advice on complex matters, including M&A, restructures, and new policies. Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring audit requirements are met and feedback is actioned. Support the Audit Committee with briefings on material financial matters and policy adherence. Drive financial upskilling across the business, ensuring adoption of new accounting standards and procedures. Requirements: Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field Proven experience in managing a corporate finance function in an ASX listed company Systems savvy - experience with corporate reporting tools, particularly Hyperion and Workiva Detailed knowledge of accounting standards, IFRS and ASX Listing Rules Understanding of best practice techniques for finance reporting Strong communication and collaboration skills across functions.
