About the role We are seeking an experienced self-motivated, client-focused family and relationship counsellor. You will undertake intake and assessment interviews and offer counselling and deliver evidence-based therapy to individuals, couples and families including clients seeking assistance with their relationships under the provisions of the Family Law Act 1975. Responsibilities will include: Evidence-based intake, assessment and counselling to individuals, couples and families Provide direct support, counselling, family therapy, case management for children (from infancy to adolescence) in collaboration with other therapeutic practitioners working with the family Provide therapeutic counselling and group work interventions including: Delivery of Relationship Learning programs to children, individuals, couples and families, including program review (contributes to the minimum counselling rate) Use of varied theoretical frameworks in practice Active commitment to a child-aware and trauma-informed approach Professional and ethical management of client case load Provision of one evening shift per week Maintain a minimum of 5 hours of client delivery work per 7.6 hour day, inclusive of counselling, group facilitation and EAP counselling. Develop and maintain effective relationships with local organisations and referring agencies Active commitment to professional development, case presentations, peer support and supervision Provide EAP counselling and deliver other workplace services as directed by management Deliver critical incident responses to organisations with affected employees where a critical incident has occurred. Identify and follow up risk issues as required Refer clients to internal or external services and programs as appropriate Undertake additional duties as directed by management in accordance with grade About you You will be: A client-focused practitioner with demonstrated experience in fee-for-service delivery A tertiary qualified Practitioner with Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or Family Therapy qualifications and postgraduate studies, with a minimum of 5 years' experience Registered with AHPRA or AASW or the equivalent Professional association Have proficiency in contemporary methods of counselling and family therapy, along with direct experience in the field; knowledge of Gottman theories and practice is an advantage. Knowledgeable about the Family Law Act 1975 Be eligible as a Family Counsellor under the Act Able to promote the profile of Relationship Matters across the community through providing professional, caring service delivery. A professional in your field, you can work independently while working within a cohesive, committed and high-performing team. Together with your exceptional level of ethical standards and well-developed interpersonal communication skills, you will have the capacity to manage and ensure high standards of practice. Previous experience working in a human services environment would be highly regarded.
