This position supports the organisation in achieving corporate goals by providing timely financial information, ensuring compliance, and offering expert advice on fixed assets.Key responsibilities include developing strategic asset management plans, overseeing capital budget planning, coordinating monthly and annual asset processes, and maintaining up-to-date policies.Interested? Submit your application now! About the role: This role is part of the Financial Accounting team, reporting to the Manager Financial Accounting. The Asset Accountant will be responsible for coordinating the asset accounting for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS). The Financial Accountant (Assets) will support the Service to achieve corporate goals by providing timely and quality information, expert financial compliance and accounting advice, reviews and planning in relation to CQHHS fixed assets. The role will play a significant part in the development and delivery of strategic asset management plans, short- and long-term capital budget planning, comprehensive evaluations, and the coordination of monthly and annual asset processes and reporting. The role is also responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are up to date, adherence to policy and financial delegations, appropriate recognition of asset versus expense, preparation of fixed asset movement schedule, review of stock movements and reporting of write-offs and obsolete stock. About you: While not mandatory, a degree in accounting or equivalent is highly desirable. A Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) / Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is highly desirable. Oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with senior personnel and maintain positive and effective client and team relationships. High level analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to produce reports and analyse evidence to provide advice on performance, policies, strategies and solutions with a commitment to achieving outcomes.
