If this sounds like you, apply today. The role The General Manager Operational Risk role is responsible for the application of the Auto & General risk management framework within Insurance Australia. This role supports the CEO to effectively manage material risks within Insurance Australia, within the broader Auto & General three lines of defence model. Additionally, your key responsibilities will be focused on the following areas: Set and maintain appropriate standards for risk management, conduct and compliance within first line of defence community of practice within Insurance Australia; Work jointly with Group Risk and Internal Audit to implement and embed an effective three lines of defence model with Insurance Australia. Create and maintain an effective first line of defence risk community of practice within Insurance Australia through continual uplift in risk maturity, capability and culture. Coordinate, schedule, and sequence the Insurance Australia risk program of work in consultation with Insurance Australia executives and their teams, Group Risk and Internal Assurance. Develop and maintain key Insurance Australia risk artefacts including:operational risk profile, risk register, controls, risk indicators, business continuity plans register of critical operations register of material service providers Regularly review the operational risk profile and control effectiveness for Insurance Australia taking incidents and near misses into account. Ensure that operational risk incidents and near misses within Insurance Australia are identified, escalated, recorded, and addressed in a timely manner by embedded first line risk teams. Regularly monitor, review and test key controls across Insurance Australia for design and operating effectiveness, in line with inherent risk rating. Report testing outcomes to senior management and ensure any gaps or deficiencies in the control environment are rectified in a timely manner. Any material weaknesses identified in a control environment immediately escalated to the CEO. Regularly review the suitability, currency and testing of divisional Business Continuity Plans for any changes in materials risks, service providers or critical operations. Regularly report on material service provider health and provide recommendations where appropriate. Manage the Insurance Australia Risk Executive Committee agenda, reporting and action items. Ensure monthly completion of the Key Risk Indicators reporting to Insurance Australia Executive Committee and AGH Board. Develop and lead regular initiatives across Insurance Australia to uplift risk capability through education and communications. Implement projects, initiatives, and programs of work on behalf of Insurance Australia at the direction of the CEO. Qualifications and Experience: You are an accomplished senior leader with a proven track record in driving performance and enhancing workplace risk culture. Skilled in Operational Risk Management, you excel in strategic planning and risk framework development. With strong commercial acumen and a focus on continuous improvement, you effectively address complex issues and implement frameworks that support business objectives. You will also possess the following: Qualifications in business, insurance, law or a related discipline with professional risk management certification an advantage. At least 15 years insurance or financial services experience with 5 years operating in a risk management leadership role. Deep experience in developing and implementing an Operational Risk Management Framework within Financial Services.
