Key Responsibilities Our APAC Hydrology and Hydrogeology Team Our 50+ person Hydrogeology and Hydrology (H&H) Technical Discipline is one of the largest in SLR Australia and as such is core business. Our business plan has expansion and enhancement of core business at the heart, and in line with that plan we have created this role as a result of a period of growth, which is opening up further opportunities to expand and invest.This new role is for a NSW hydrogeology state lead, managing our NSW and Victorian staff (10 people) and seeking further opportunities to grow. The role can be based in either our Sydney, Wollongong or Newcastle offices. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our national groundwater modelling team lead and other state leaders in groundwater and surface water to deliver solutions for our clients. Additionally, the candidate will work directly with the Technical Discipline Manager (TDM) and Hydrogeology Technical Directors to implement our business plan that aligns with our global strategic priorities – expanding and enhancing the core, investing and accelerating the emerging, and experimenting and validating the future.We have a solid backlog and pipeline of work thanks to our focus on technical excellence, practical solutions and strong client relationships. We work in a collaborative environment across our H&H teams in Brisbane, Townsville, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and closely with other SLR environmental specialists. The group delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry and Power. Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for a groundwater leader. You will have excellent team coordination and management skills and know how to motivate your staff and develop their careers. You will have excellent client relationships and strong commercial acumen. Technical excellence will be your core value and you will thrive in a dynamic consulting environment.We are open to investing in future leaders who have the technical hydrogeology experience but are early in their people management career. Or experienced leaders looking for a change. We can be flexible in shaping this role to fit the right candidate. Our smaller Melbourne office currently works closely with NSW and as such we would be open to Melbourne based candidate with very strong and broad consulting skills particularly in people and team management. To be successful in this role you will need: 7-20 year's + industry experience as a hydrogeologist, including consultancy experience An appropriate Engineering or Science tertiary qualification A strong technical background in hydrogeological conceptualisation, groundwater impact assessment, hydrogeological investigation (fieldwork management experience and/or numerical modelling skills are also highly regarded) A thorough understanding of NSW groundwater legislation and guidelines related to resource development and infrastructure projects, and a working knowledge of other National and State groundwater legislation, policies, standards and guidelines A strong commitment to Health and Safety Demonstrated experience managing and delivering large technical projects Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation and ability to work effectively within a team Excellent communication and technical report writing skills Demonstrated experience successfully mentoring junior staff in preparing quality reports on time and within budget Experience in successfully collaborating with and guiding groundwater modelling technical staff to deliver project solutions To contribute to winning work by identifying and converting opportunities and drawing on your client relationships and business development acumen A strong track record in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships Experience or understanding of the broader water market (surface water resources would be highly regarded) Australia Citizenship or rights to work in Australia Excellent driving history and hold a current driver's license Our Benefits We are proud of our unique culture where we work together to collaborate on projects to get the best possible outcome for our clients.
