Job Description

Job Purpose: BTIG is seeking a Head of Technology, APAC, to lead the Technology strategy and manage trading support and operational efficiency for the region. This individual must be able to operate independently and as a team player, provide sound advice to the senior leadership team, and manage and inspire the Technology team across Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan. The role is reporting directly into our Global CIO, James Crowley. The successful candidate will have a growth mindset and will already have a track record of many of the skills below. The role is ideal for someone who is adept at leading and inspiring a diverse team across APAC and wants to advance their own skill set as a key member of a high-performing global Technology team. Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Development: Lead a high-performing IT team, managing capacity effectively while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Define roles and responsibilities, hire new employees, conduct performance reviews, identify training needs and skills development. Trading Support: Manage the delivery of equities and fixed-income front-office trading platform support. Specify Fidessa platform enhancements, manage and test the delivery of platform changes. Provide FIX connection setups support and manage the prioritization of FIX support for the team. Operational Efficiency: Implement IT solutions to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve service delivery. Removal of single points of failure for critical business services. Strategic Planning & Global Coordination: Define and implement the IT strategy to align with BTIG APAC business goals and drive digital transformation. Frequent collaboration with global teams. Represent BTIG APAC interests within global technology initiatives. Willingness to work hybrid hours that overlap with Australia and UK teams. Cybersecurity & Technology Risk Management: Identify and mitigate IT-related risks, including system failures and cyber threats. Ensure robust cybersecurity measures are in place to protect sensitive financial data and comply with regulatory requirements. Technology Innovation & Enhancement: Provide direction and oversight of in-house software development as well as performing vendor RFP analysis. Create business cases for technology enhancement initiatives and executive review. Lead the adoption of emerging technologies to improve process efficiency and technology services. Regulatory Compliance & Data Management: Ensure all IT systems and processes comply with industry regulations and standards. Oversee data governance, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility for informed decision-making. Contract & Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors to ensure cost-effective and efficient service delivery. Effectively negotiate contracts and renewals, conduct invoice validation and cost management. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR): Ensure technology documentation is continuously updated. Develop and implement comprehensive BCDR plans to ensure the bank's critical operations can continue during and after a disaster, minimizing downtime and data loss. Requirements: Extensive IT Experience & Leadership Skills: Proven experience in IT leadership roles within the banking or financial services sector. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other executives and stakeholders. Professional proficiency in both Cantonese and English is ideal. Trading Systems Experience: Familiarity with trading applications and electronic systems and protocols. Project, Budget & Vendor Management: Proficiency in managing large-scale IT projects, including budgeting, timelines, and resource allocation. Experience in managing relationships with technology vendors and negotiating contracts. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with banking regulations and compliance requirements related to IT and data management. Risk Management: Expertise in identifying and mitigating IT-related risks, including system failures and cyber threats. Innovation Mindset: Ability to drive technological innovation and adopt emerging technologies to enhance banking services. Ability to act as a trusted advisor: Across various levels in the organization, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. An understanding of the nuances across our markets in APAC.
