Job Description

Health & Safety Superintendent - Tier 1 construction project Elecnor has been contracted to build EnergyConnect, a new 700km transmission line extending from Wagga Wagga NSW to the South Australian border. This backbone infrastructure will connect customers with more renewable energy enabling a further 4950MW of generation capacity, save NSW customers $180 million a year and create 1,500 new construction jobs in regional NSW. Construction of EnergyConnect is underway in various locations across the project area. With a continued commitment to the highest safety standards on site, Elecnor Australia offers a newly created position reporting directly to the site Health and Safety Manager. This role will support our delivery teams across our Substations discipline. Please note this is a 12-month contract role, and would work on a 14:7 roster. As our preferred candidate, you will be a solutions-oriented individual who thrives in a project environment where no two days are the same. You will support outcomes to safety challenges that will help develop you further, and at the same time enable you to make your mark on a significant, tier 1 infrastructure project. Leading a high performing team, the Superintendent H&S is a key leadership position, providing direction whilst engaging with all levels of operations within the areas of safety, health and hygiene, injury management, security, and emergency response. The role Drive our H&S culture of continuous learning and improvement Assist the site H&S Manager to implement the company’s H&S policies, procedures and relevant management plans and ensure their implementation and compliance. Instill safety awareness to employees, leading by example and promoting best practice at all times across the breadth of the project. Conduct thorough incident investigations, with prevention a core strategy to minimize future occurrences and improve safety measures. Conduct scheduled site inspections and ensure identified hazards are closed out in a timely manner. Produce monthly WHS reports for Site Management as required. Who are you? Tertiary educated with experience in the OFSC, ASNZS 45001 compliance and certification process, with an intrinsic knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practice. Ability to work under pressure, remaining cool and calm, supporting and leading your team in difficult moments. Excellent interpersonal and presentational skills, building relationships with internal and external partners. Problem solver with the ability to interpret complex issues, providing motivation and clarity on purpose. Minimum required experience in a similar role within the resource/construction sector. Qualifications in ICAM investigations along with root cause analysis competencies. Strong computer skills & literacy, particularly across the MS Office suite and Hammertech reporting platform (preferred not essential). Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (highly desirable).
