What’s the focus of this position? The Instructional Leader is responsible for providing coaching and instructional leadership, to identify and implement initiatives for improving learning and achievement for students within your designated KLA. Reporting to the Director of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, the key focus area will be curriculum, instruction, assessment and feedback. The Instructional Leader will be responsible for the administration of their KLA, conduct regular observations, work collaboratively with the teachers in their KLA team to improve teaching and learning, support their teachers to write and implement quality programs and ensure documentation is uploaded and compliant with the NESA standards. The Instructional Leader will liaise with team members to ensure there are ongoing professional learning opportunities offered to assist staff to develop and embed highly effective learning and teaching, curriculum development, and feedback and assessment practices. The Instructional Leader will facilitate regular meetings with their KLA team to encourage collaboration, professional conversations and sharing of ideas within their team. What you’ll be doing: Liaising with the teachers to ensure they are creating and delivering programs of work that will optimise student agency, student success and the utilisation of a variety of resources. Be accountable for the implementation of a high-quality curriculum and provide effective direction and guidance in all matters of curriculum, assessment and reporting relevant to the specific stages of development in Middle School and Senior School within your designated KLAs. Initiate and oversee the implementation of curriculum changes and developments to ensure the College is well across national curriculum reforms and achieves best-practice within your designated KLAs. Ensure that all documentation regarding teaching and learning is uploaded and up to date on the school system and compliant with NESA standards. Ensure the Christian Worldview is authentically integrated into each teaching program and evident in teaching practice through classroom observations. Liaise with the Inclusive Education Co-Ordinator on issues concerning student learning needs. You will be required to carry out other duties that are within the limits of your skills, competence, training and/or experience as directed by your supervisor or Principal. The essentials you’ll need: To promote the Christian vision and ethos of the school and broader organisation. To demonstrate a living relationship with Jesus Christ. An accredited Teaching Degree as recognised by NESA. Proven experience and expertise in Stage Four to Stage Six Science. Ability to teach Stage Six Chemistry and Physics preferred. Possess positive classroom management skills and a desire to pastorally support and disciple the students. Possess a high level of interpersonal skills leading to constructive relationships with students, colleagues and parents. A proven capacity to work effectively in a team and to actively lead and support team members. Excellent communication skills - both written and oral. Other valuable skills you may have: Previous leadership experience in a similar role. Demonstrated high level of understanding of the NSW Curriculum and Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the capacity to provide leadership in the alignment of these areas. Well-developed administrative skills, including a proven ability for the NSW Curriculum documentation, assessment and reporting. Growth Coaching qualifications and familiarity with Clifton Strengths will be highly regarded but not essential. The current hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:15am - 4:15pm but may be negotiated in consultation with the Principal.
