About the Role This exciting role of Land Services Officer – Agriculture will work directly with land managers within the Central West Local Land Services region to plan, implement and monitor key projects relating to agricultural productivity and sustainability with an emphasis on broadacre crop & livestock production. You will engage with a diverse portfolio of land managers with a range of diverse needs, to provide advice and support to achieve bio secure, profitable, productive and sustainable primary industries in our region. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the Central West Local Land Services team in a role that is a mix of office and field based work. In this role you will; Initiate partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders Support the delivery of agricultural incentive and awareness projects Support the provision of information and services to strategically targeted areas including new landholders Work closely with the SLSO Livestock and SLSO Mixed Farming to build capacity to support producers to manage livestock & grazing systems. This includes; Providing grazing management, livestock production and nutritional advice Building knowledge and capacity for producers to respond to a changing climate and challenging seasonal conditions Building awareness and adherence to animal biosecurity and welfare standards Extension of information on managing livestock for profitability and grazing systems for landscape outcomes Facilitating adoption of new technologies and research & development findings Investigating options for producer demonstration sites and local trials. About You To be successful in the role, our ideal candidate will have: Working experience with livestock & mixed farming systems and engaging with farmers Be well informed about issues in the livestock industries including animal nutrition, livestock traceability, production considerations and proactively source and prepare information for communication to livestock producers A desire to build on your technical knowledge in the areas of grazing management, animal nutrition and livestock production Excellent communication skills to engage and collaborate with people in government, industry and the community and build partnerships An ability to think strategically and understand risk as it applies to farming in our region High level administrative and project management skills Have a degree in agriculture, rural science or equivalent knowledge and experience Ability and willingness to undertake a police check and medical clearance if required Have a Current NSW Class C Driver Licence Be willing to undertake regular travel within the Central West LLS region including overnight trips. You’ll be self-motivated, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to build and maintain trust with the varied people you’ll be working with to deliver on-ground programs and projects.
