McInnes Wilson Lawyers is supporting our client Edmund Rice Education Australia Victorian Schools Ltd (VSL), as we search for a Lawyer/ Legal Counsel to join VSL in Melbourne Victoria on a 12-month secondment. You will have a minimum of 1-3 years’ experience and will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to VSL Schools across a range of employment matters. Key Responsibilities Providing high level human resources and employment related advice across a range of queries to VSL and their Schools in Victoria. Assisting in the management of regulatory matters involving the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority, the Commission for Children and Young People and the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools. Assisting in the management of regulatory matters pertaining to the education systems in Victoria, liaising directly with the relevant external stakeholders. Providing high level support in the drafting of correspondence and documentation. The Role This role will work directly with the Director of Victorian Schools, CEO, and also work alongside the Director of Special Assistance Schools for VSL. You will have full support from the McInnes Wilson Lawyers employment team in Brisbane. Pre-secondment training will be provided, as well as regular ongoing training and support during the secondment period. The Secondment will take place from Monday to Friday each week, and you will be situated in the VSL office at St Brigid's Parish, 378 Nicholson St, Fitzroy North VIC 3068. Experience and Requirements 1-3 years’ post admission experience across employment related matters with a passion for working in the education system. Admitted as a solicitor and hold a valid Practising Certificate. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Ability to flexibly adjust to competing priorities and work autonomously. Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills. High level of interpersonal skills in effectively managing interactions with a diverse range of people. Ability to deliver excellent customer service to external and internal stakeholders.
