Your Opportunity: Tenterfield Shire Council is looking for a full-time Manager Finance & Technology based in Tenterfield, NSW . Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, this role is responsible for leading the finance and technology functions of Council, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, driving strategic financial planning, and overseeing information systems. More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Managing financial operations, including budgeting, rates, financial reporting, taxation, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll Acting as the Responsible Accounting Officer, ensuring budgetary control and compliance with financial regulations Leading the preparation and submission of financial statements, grant acquittals, and investment reports Overseeing Council’s Long-Term Financial Plan, ensuring financial sustainability Managing Council’s investment portfolio and financial assets Developing and implementing the Technology Strategic Plan Coordinating external audits, addressing audit recommendations, and maintaining compliance with internal controls Delivering business improvements by identifying financial risks and opportunities Leading and mentoring a team of finance and IT professionals to ensure operational efficiency Managing vendor relationships and external financial service providers Ensuring financial training and compliance initiatives are up to date Promoting a culture of financial integrity, innovation, and strategic leadership within the organisation You’ll be great in this role because: To qualify, you will need tertiary qualifications in accounting or a related discipline . A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a similar leadership role will also be essential. Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued: Experience in local government finance and accounting functions Accountant with CA/CPA full membership Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and budgeting Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and financial management systems Expertise in treasury, loans management, and financial compliance As our ideal candidate, you will possess strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to drive financial sustainability. You are a strong leader and communicator with the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team while fostering collaboration across the organisation.
