We're a business of 600+ innovative thinkers but 10,000 globally, inspired to make a difference to individual lives by providing quality, affordable medicines and healthcare products. To support our transition to the Government’s eco-modulated levy (effective FY27), we are currently seeking a Packaging Material Technologist to join our Packaging Development Team in Dandenong South. This is a 12-month contract; however, we can offer some flexibility in the number of days and hours based on experience. About the Role Reporting to the Packaging Development & Innovation Manager, this is a unique opportunity to use your understanding of packaging and passion for sustainability to impact our packaging strategy and sustainability goals. You will be working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional specialists (including Manufacturing, Quality, Printers, Supply Chain, and Logistics) to capture the packaging formats and materials data relating to the packaging we place on market, in order to forecast future costs and drive improvements in our packaging design. Key Responsibilities: Data Collection & Analysis: Collaborate across functions to compile master packaging data for all Aspen-branded products in Australia, detailing material weights and types. Cost Modelling: Develop models to forecast future fees based on current and evolving packaging specifications. Regulatory Research: Stay ahead of eco-modulation rules and best practices, providing insights relevant to Aspen’s key packaging categories. Sustainability Initiatives: Recommend and implement improvements in packaging design to enhance sustainability and compliance. Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely reporting for Aspen and APCO requirements. What we’re looking for: Packaging Expertise: Prior experience in a packaging role, ideally within pharmaceuticals or FMCG. Relevant qualifications in packaging technology or sustainability are advantageous. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of packaging materials, technologies, and processes. Passion for Sustainability: Genuine interest in recycling, circular economy principles, and sustainable packaging solutions. Analytical Mindset: Detail-oriented with strong data analysis and forecasting capabilities. Industry Awareness: Familiarity with Australia’s packaging targets (APCO), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and eco-modulation principles is highly regarded. Collaboration & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Why Join Aspen? Aspen Australia is part of Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Limited, a global pharmaceutical leader. With 26 manufacturing facilities across six continents and an annual production of approximately 24 billion tablets, we are a business powered by people who are passionate about making a difference. If you're ready to contribute your expertise in packaging and sustainability to a company that values innovation and environmental responsibility, we’d love to hear from you! #J-18808-Ljbffr
