As the People & Culture Business Partner - WHS, you will serve as a strategic ally, providing a comprehensive range of P&C services to the Operations department while championing WHS compliance across USU. Your expertise will guide the organisation in navigating the complexities of workforce planning, talent management, and employee relations. You will partner with departments to promote employee engagement, foster a safe and positive workplace culture, and support key P&C and safety objectives. WHAT YOU WILL DO Partner with stakeholders across the Operations department to deliver effective P&C services. Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and provide strategic P&C support. Manage the end-to-end recruitment process and ensure onboarding best practices. Lead WHS initiatives, ensuring compliance with legislation and fostering a culture of safety. Support the development and implementation of WHS policies and procedures. Provide advice on employee relations, workforce planning, and performance management. Take a coaching approach to enable line managers to excel in their responsibilities for all aspects of people management. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Relevant degree qualifications in Human Resources, WH&S, Psychology or related field. 6+ years’ experience in a similar role with demonstrated capacity to undertake a comprehensive range of HR generalist functions and effectively manage stakeholders. Previous experience in driving the creation and maintenance of a strong safety culture, including maintaining a WH&S management system. Previous experience in developing WHS procedures and completing risk assessments. Ability to and experience in understanding and interpreting industrial instruments. Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with issues in a confidential and sensitive nature. Ability to establish trust and build strong relationships and work collaboratively. The ability to work effectively with varying levels of workload and manage multiple priorities. Ability to work unsupervised, exercise initiative and articulate issues. Positive energy and ‘can do’ attitude and a team player. A self-starter who is adaptable and open to change. HOURS OF WORK This is a Permanent Full Time position, 35 hours per week.
