Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Finance team in the role of AO7, Principal Finance Governance Officer where you will be responsible for preparing the annual Chief Finance Officer (CFO) Assurance Statement, managing the department's financial policies, procedures, and financial and contract delegations. You will lead financial internal control assurance activities to support the CFO’s financial reporting obligations, develop and review financial policies and procedures, and deliver and coordinate training activities. Due to recent machinery of government, the department is now the Department of Housing and Public Works. What You Will Be Doing Assisting with developing the Annual CFO Assurance Statement Project Plan. Leading financial internal control reviews across the department (planning, testing, and reporting). Liaising with key internal stakeholders to identify, assess, and sample test financial internal controls to determine their effectiveness. Contributing to the annual CFO Assurance Report and other ad hoc reporting activities such as briefing notes for financial delegation updates. Leading the development and review of financial policies and procedures. Coordinating 6-monthly updates to the department's financial and contract delegations. Providing advice to departmental business areas relating to financial and contract delegations, project commencement approval, and other financial policy and procedure requirements. Identifying where financial training is needed and developing, delivering, and coordinating online/face-to-face training activities across the department.
