Agriculture and Fisheries (Organisation site)GM Strategy & Treatment Directorate; National Fire Ant Eradication Program; Biosecurity Queensland; Caboolture Find purpose you feel, impact you see and a legacy you bring to life.#DAFcareers As our Principal Operations Supervisor you will: Plan, oversee and report on management of operational activities for assigned area / portfolio/program in terms of output quality and quantity, financial sustainability, facilities, time available, labour requirements and costs. Adjust processes and resource allocations to minimise costs while achieving required quantitative and qualitative outcomes. Oversee outputs and operational quality through development and periodic updating of standard operating procedures within the team/operational area with due regard to foreseeable flow on impacts on other areas. Implement processes and process controls to ensure all operational activities are conducted safely, legally and in a fiscally responsible manner. Alert senior manager, colleagues and other relevant stakeholders about flow-on impacts and implications of the team's activities on other areas of the business including obstacles and opportunities for operational improvement. Manage or mentor both technical and non-technical staff and subordinate team leaders (permanent, temporary & contract) including work allocations against the relevant operational plan. This may include managing subordinate's performance and development under HR policy, leave, recruitment, workplace health and safety. Represent the division on relevant committees (e.g. Safety Committee) and work collaboratively with colleagues and, as appropriate, with representatives of other levels of government, industry and community organisations to achieve immediate and strategic operational outcomes. Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, and correspondence for consideration by executive management, including responses to ministerial queries. Lead and support their team in establishing and maintaining a positive profile with internal and external clients and stakeholders as applicable. Engage on behalf of Biosecurity Queensland at media events and at industry and community engagement meetings, reflecting a professional, consultative, and reasoned approach and to support the establishment and maintenance of positive relationships and effective network. You may also have: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or relevant transferable experience would be desirable. Licences and registrations: Current unrestricted ‘C' Class drivers' licence Why join the department?
