The Telopea Park School/Lycée Franco-Australien de Canberra is an Australian and French binational school. Opening in 1923, it is Canberra's oldest school still in operation. In 1983, Lycée Franco-Australien de Canberra was established after the signing of a Treaty between the Governments of France and Australia. This Treaty underpins the operation of the school and articulates the governance of the school, reviewed by both governments every four years and reporting to the ACT Education Directorate. Telopea Park School/Lycée Franco-Australien de Canberra offers an exceptional education in an inclusive environment for students from Kindergarten to Year 10. There are more than 1550 students in the school: almost 600 in the primary years and more than 950 in the secondary years. All students in the primary school (Kindergarten to Year 6) and approximately 200 in the high school (Years 7-10) learn through a strong English/French bilingual program. In the primary years, students learn in French and in English. The delivered curriculum is a harmonised one which satisfies the requirements of the French National Curriculum and the Australian Curriculum and continues to be an outstanding example of bilingual education. The secondary school has been an authorised International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) school since 2006, providing an internationally recognised framework for the delivery of high-quality learning. The Telopea Park School/Lycée Franco-Australien de Canberra values of Respect, Cooperation, Fairness and Honesty are evident and provide a clear foundation for the operation of the school.
