Our Vision is for a community that works together to advance community life.About the Role As the Principal - Tree Management officer, you'll drive continuous improvement in urban forest management practices to build climate resilience and improve the health and well-being of our community. Lead the Tree Management team to deliver Darebin’s Urban Forest Strategy Develop Council’s annual street and park tree planting programs to build climate resilience Monitor and track changes in Darebin’s tree population and canopy cover Coordinate staff and contractors to deliver proactive and reactive works Protect trees on private property in partnership with the Local Laws Team Oversee Council's Electrical Lines Clearance Program Skills & Experience Tertiary qualification in arboriculture, environmental management, or urban forest management Experience at local government in urban forest management Ability to lead and manage a diverse team Contract management skills Sound communication skills in both writing and speaking Culture As a progressive leader in Local Government, Darebin City Council is passionate about social inclusion, sustainability, engagement, and service excellence.
