About the Program: AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.This role will lead the procurement of the material and software portfolio for the AIR6500 Program, ensuring the on-time execution and delivery of the project. Your responsibilities will include: Lead the development and execution of the procurement strategy for the AIR6500 projects procurement portfolio including identifying global category agreements that can be leveraged Lead source to contract, supplier evaluation and selection, negotiation and execution of contracts Lead the development of the AIR6500 procurement schedule taking account of project ‘need by dates’, material and transport lead times, collaborating with engineering on the bill of materials and operations of the production plan Identify long lead time items and work with stakeholders to mitigate supply risk through early procurement Collaborate with key suppliers to give them forward visibility of material requirements Collaborate with other functions (i.e IT) to develop systems, tools, processes and reports which provide visibility of material availability risks and on time delivery Develop material cost estimates for bids for future phases of the AIR6500 program and support the bid review process Lead the buyers in their role who will be raising proactively managing and expediting POs in accordance with contracts About you: Extensive experience leading the full procurement lifecycle and negotiating contracts Significant experience collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external Any experience with one or more of the following would be highly desirable: Leading procurement activities within Defence Acquisition Projects Leading procurement of complex / specialised software and hardware Knowledge of software licence agreements terms and conditions Exposure to supply planning function, business rhythms and reports Data analytics and systems acumen Special Requirements: Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance and employment may be contingent on the provision of further personal information including citizenship to ensure compliance with international export control legislation and regulations.
